Western Reserve Joint Fire District Station No. 91 – Building Assessment & Renovation

Western Reserve Joint Fire District Station No. 91 • Poland, Ohio

The purpose of the building assessment and renovation was to plan and program renovation work to address a myriad of issues including water penetration through both roofs and foundationĀ  walls, poorly performing windows and doors, non-compliant ADA access, and the degradation of the masonry structure and wood trim.

After extensive research and presentations to the Poland Village Architectural Review Board, work proceeded with the addition of a pitched roof structure over the existing apparatus room. Thermally efficient bay doors and new windows were installed throughout. A front entrance portico was redesigned that effectively incorporates an ADA compliant ramp. Maintenance free composite wood trim, made from recycled materials, replaced theĀ  deteriorating trim. The 90-year-old masonry structure was tuckpointed and restored to its original condition.

This facility is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. Renovation cost – $295,000.
